Some Godot titles have started to make it semi big on Steam (Dome Keeper, Yomi Hustle, and Luck be a Landlord come to mind), but nothing anywhere near as big as the big GameMaker or Unity titles that I'm aware of so far.īoth are probably fine for hobby projects, and you'll probably find more resources for GameMaker right now tbh. There are multiple companies that will provide porting tools, but it's a bit more complicated than it would be in commercial engines. The "catch" is that console SDKs can't be included in the open source release as they're propriety property of the console manufacturers. Godot is growing as a result of being fully free and open source, and has a recent update that has massively improved the engine. GameMaker is "bigger" I believe, and has several high profile indie games made in it that have made it big over many years (Undertale and Hyper Light Drifter for instance) (Not actually into anything more than hobby gamedev so might be way off here)
